On a deep and enveloping black background, Luca Bellandi tells us about one of the most famous adulterers of Olympus: The protagonists are Venus with Mars. Discovered by the watchful eye of the Sun, the two lovers are trapped in an invisible golden net, exposed in front of the gods, who have come to laugh at their misfortune. Only the intervention of Poseidon convinces Hephaestus to free them, allowing them to escape separately: Mars takes refuge in Thrace, Venus returns to Cyprus.
Bellandi reinterprets this mythological story with a vibrant and dynamic vision, transforming betrayal into an overwhelming dance. The brushstrokes and the explosion of colors give a unique rhythm to the work, almost musical, as if the two lovers were moving to the sound of a jazz improvisation. While taking up the classical tradition, the artist imprints his own distinctive code: the abdomen of Mars is not sculpted in statuary perfection, but appears soft, human, in harmony with the roses, which in their shape seem to touch abstractionism.
The lovers look at each other intensely, suspended between passion and lightness, in an interweaving of history, art and music that gives life to a work of unique charm.
