Pedro Perdomo
The Essence of the Canary Islands' Sea in Contemporary Art
Pedro Alejandro Cruz Perdomo, born in 1998 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is a visual artist inspired by the majesty of the sea surrounding the Canary Islands. His artistic education culminated in a Fine Arts degree, specializing in painting, from the University of La Laguna in 2020.
His paintings, primarily created using painting and drawing techniques, reflect a deep connection with Tenerife’s coastal landscape, characterized by cliffs, volcanic rocks, and the relentless motion of the Atlantic Ocean. Through a vibrant palette and evocative textures, Perdomo captures the dynamic essence of the sea, transporting the viewer on a sensory journey that celebrates the natural beauty of his homeland.
His artistic research also focuses on the male nude, used as a means to evoke emotions and scenes traditionally associated with the female form, offering an innovative and inclusive perspective. This thematic duality allows Perdomo to explore the relationship between humans and nature, creating works that are both intimate and universal.
Before his international debut in Caserta, Perdomo participated in several group exhibitions in the Canary Islands. Among them, his participation in Merkarte, the Young Creators' Market, held at the European University of the Canary Islands in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from December 21, 2022, to January 8, 2023, stands out. On this occasion, he had the opportunity to present his works to a broader audience, solidifying his presence in the local art scene.
The exhibition in Caserta represents his first international launch, marking a pivotal milestone in his career. The enthusiasm for his works was such that all creations were sold even before the official viewing, confirming the international audience’s interest and appreciation for his art.
With an artistic sensibility that blends tradition and modernity, Pedro Perdomo offers a fresh perspective on contemporary art, celebrating the unbreakable bond between culture and nature. His ability to evoke the sea as a metaphor for life and its unpredictable beauty makes each of his creations an intense and unforgettable experience.
