Mimmo Di Dio
Within This Infinite Sea
Mimmo Di Dio was born in Marcianise (Caserta) in 1961. In 1983 he graduated in scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples. In 1987 he began his artistic activity, to which ten years later he added that of teaching geometric disciplines and scenography at the Liceo Artistico "San Leucio" in Caserta, where he currently teaches.
Since 1987 he has taken part in several group and solo exhibitions, today he lives and works in his home studio in Marcianise.
He has been involved in painting since he was very young, and from his earliest works shows a particular connection to themes related to classicism and myth. In his recent works, he echoes, with a delicacy and depth of expression without rhetoric, the lessons of the great masters of medieval and Renaissance painting, while maintaining a personal touch characterized by a skillful symbolic use of color and a distinctive taste in drawing that stands out for its refinement.
His way of painting succeeds in combining realism and symbolism, while the subjects of his works are always accompanied by a profound humanity and evocative power, showing a peculiar sensitivity able to capture with poetic vein particular atmospheres and situations.
