In Tenderness, Marco Grasso deepens the affective and relational dimension already present in several works within the series, constructing an image in which gesture becomes an expression of care and continuity. The two giraffes, captured in a moment of intimate contact, emerge from a neutral and rarefied background that amplifies their presence, asserting themselves as a form of unity grounded in connection. The composition is structured around a direct relationship between the two figures: the adult’s face, solid and composed, inclines toward the young, while the calf, positioned slightly higher, establishes a contact that defines the emotional centre of the work. The lines of the necks and the arrangement of the heads construct a harmonious visual system, in which each element finds its balance in the other. Tonal variations ranging between ochres, browns, and cooler accents model the volumes with delicacy and precision.
